We Have Answers!

We understand that garage door problems can be frustrating, which is why we are dedicated to providing reliable and professional repair services to our customers. Our team of experienced technicians is well-equipped to handle all types of garage door issues, from minor repairs to major overhauls. We aim to answer some of the most common questions that our customers have regarding garage door repair services.

General Troubleshooting

Quick answers before you call – what to check first.

Why is my garage door not opening?
While there are several reasons that can cause your garage door to not open, the most common reason is due to a broken spring. The springs offset the weight of your garage door, allowing it to open and close smoothly. With the spring broken, the garage door is very heavy and can be extremely dangerous. Other possibilities include a snapped cable or a door that’s come off its tracks. That’s why we inspect the full system rather than assuming. Always call a garage door professional to complete a full inspection and any necessary repairs.
Why is my garage door not shutting?

There are a few reasons your garage door will not shut, but it could be as simple as something blocking your safety sensors. On most garage doors you will see safety sensors toward the bottom of your garage door. One should be lit up green and the other orange. When those sensors detect something in their path, for safety reasons, the garage door will not close. Be sure to clear anything out of the path of your garage door and sensors, and check that the sensors are aligned and free of dirt or cobwebs.

How much does a garage door repair cost?

Repair costs vary depending on what is wrong. A spring replacement typically runs less than a track realignment combined with new rollers and cable work. We give you a complete upfront estimate after inspecting the door, so you know the full cost before we do anything.

Do I need a repair or full replacement?

If your door is relatively new and the issue is isolated to one component, repair almost always makes more financial sense. If it is more than 15 years old, has needed several repairs in a short period, or has structural damage to multiple panels, replacement may cost less over time when you factor in future repair calls. We will look at your specific door and give you an honest answer.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Rose Garage Door Solutions is fully licensed and insured. We are also accredited by the Better Business Bureau and have maintained a 5.0-star rating on Google across hundreds of reviews.

same day emergency

Same-Day & Emergency Service

Fast response when your door won’t open, close, or stay put.

How quickly can you get to me in Carmel?
In most cases we can schedule a same-day appointment, often within a few hours of your call. Availability depends on the time of day and current schedule. Call us and we’ll give you an honest estimate of when we can be there. We also offer 24/7 emergency service if your door is stuck open, won’t close, or your car is trapped inside. We prioritize those calls.
Do you charge extra for same-day or after-hours service?
Standard same-day appointments are priced the same as any other repair call there’s no rush fee for getting there quickly. We do have after-hours rates for nights, weekends, and holidays, but we’re upfront about them when you call, so you’ll know the full cost before we dispatch a technician.
Can you fix my door temporarily if the full repair takes longer?
Yes. If a part needs to be ordered or a full repair can’t be completed in one visit, we’ll always secure the door before we leave whether that means getting it fully closed and locked, or making it safe to operate manually. We won’t leave you in a worse position than we found you.

Springs & Cables

What broken springs or cables mean and why they’re not a DIY fix.

Is it safe to replace my own garage door springs or use my door if a spring is broken?
No to both. Replacing a torsion spring is extremely dangerous without proper training and knowledge of the repair. This can lead to serious injury or even death. Signs of a broken spring include a loud bang followed by a door that won’t open (or only rises a few inches), a door that looks uneven or lopsided as it moves, or a visible gap or separation in the spring coil. Additionally, operating a door without a functioning spring puts the full load on your garage door opener motor and cables, neither of which is designed to carry that weight. You risk burning out the motor, snapping a cable, or causing injury if you try to lift the door manually. Leave the door in place and call a garage door professional.
How long do garage door springs last?
Standard springs are rated for around 10,000 cycles, which is roughly five to seven years for an average Carmel household. We do offer high-cycle springs as well, which we can discuss more in-depth on-site with you.
Should I replace both springs or both cables at the same time?
We typically recommend replacing both at the same time. If one has failed, the other is usually at a similar wear point. This applies to both springs and cables since they are installed together and wear at a similar rate. Replacing both keeps your garage door balanced and saves you a second service call down the road.
How much does garage door spring or cable repair cost?
The cost depends on factors like spring type, whether we’re replacing one or both, and whether any related hardware needs attention. We don’t publish flat rates because we’d rather give you an accurate number after seeing your specific door than a figure that doesn’t reflect what the job actually involves. We stand behind our work with warranty coverage on all repairs.

Opener Repair

Troubleshooting remotes, motors, and keypad issues.

How do I know if I should repair or replace my garage door opener?
Age and repair history are the two biggest factors. If your opener is under 10 years old and this is a first-time issue, repair almost always makes more sense. If it’s older, has been repaired before, or is missing features like Wi-Fi connectivity and battery backup, replacement is usually the smarter investment long-term.
My door is making a loud noise but the opener still works. Should I be worried?
Yes noise is usually a warning sign, not just a nuisance. Grinding often means stripped gears. Banging can mean a loose chain or a panel issue. Squeaking usually points to worn rollers or hinges. Catching it early almost always means a cheaper fix.

Garage Door Installation & Replacement

Honest guidance on repair vs. replace, and what a new door costs.

What type of garage door should I have installed?
We always recommend a steel back insulated garage door for our customers. The added insulation is beneficial to help minimize heat in summer and cold in winter from entering your garage especially important if you have a living space above your garage or spend a good amount of time in there.
How much does a new garage door cost in Carmel?
Cost depends on the size of the door, the material, the insulation rating, and whether you’re adding or replacing an opener at the same time. A standard single-car door runs considerably less than a double-car door with premium finishes. The best way to get an accurate number is a free on-site estimate we’ll give you a written quote with no pressure to commit.

Opener Installation & Replacement

Choosing the right opener and getting it installed correctly.

Do I need to replace my springs when I replace my opener?
Not necessarily. If your springs are in good condition and properly balanced, we can install the new opener without replacing them. We check spring condition during every installation and will let you know upfront if we see any concerns.

maintenance

Maintenance

Simple upkeep that extends the life of your door.

Why is my garage door so noisy?
Common causes of a loud garage door are worn rollers and poor lubrication. Rollers experience wear and tear every time you open and close your garage door. We recommend nylon rollers to our customers, as they’re proven to be quieter and more resistant to rust. We also recommend adding lubrication every 6 months to keep your door running smoothly and help prevent rust, corrosion, grinding, and squeaking.
What's included in a garage door maintenance visit?
Every visit covers a full inspection and tune-up of your entire system: a visual inspection of panels, hardware, and weatherstripping; lubrication of hinges, rollers, tracks, and springst; a cable and pulley check; opener testing, including force settings and the auto-reverse safety feature; a track alignment check; and an overall performance test.
